SmashCut started with a simple observation: coding agents got spectacularly good, and video editors ignored them completely. Every editor bolts a chatbot onto the corner of the screen. None of them let an agent actually edit.

So we built the editor around one rule — every edit is a tool call. The timeline you drag, the cut you make with a shortcut, the captions you style: each one runs through the same tools an agent can call over MCP. Anything you can do in the app, your agent can do for you. And anything it does, you can see and undo.

The editor is free, it runs on your machine, and your footage never leaves it. That's not a launch promo — it's the model. We charge when your agent goes unlimited, not for the craft.
